We are pleased to announce that The 100 Club of Buffalo www.100ClubBuffalo.org has generously offered to underwrite the cost of four (4) 56-passenger coach buses for the purpose of transporting firefighters to and from the afternoon wake on Saturday – December 29, 2012 for West Webster Volunteer Fire Department Past Chief Mike Chiapperini and Firefighter Tomasz Kaczowka. There will be no charge for riding the bus.
FRIDAY CALLING HOURS:
West Webster FD has requested that the calling hours on Friday night, December 28th will be ONLY for members of the West Webster Fire Department, Webster Fire Department and Webster Police Officers. All others should plan on paying your respects at the calling hours Saturday December 29th.
TRANSPORTATION DETAILS FOR SATURDAY WAKE:
Inasmuch as Monroe County Fire is anticipating thousands of visiting firefighters, we encourage you to take advantage of the availability of these buses so as to minimize any parking or other travel related issues. Buses are available on a first come-first serve basis.
Respond with FD unit leader contact info and number of firefighters attending and riding the bus via e-mail to: Tiger.Schmittendorf@erie.gov or 716-432-3915 by noon on Friday-12/28/12.
Please consider carpooling as much as possible (Especially if not traveling via bus but following group to Webster) as parking is limited at the fire academy and may be at the wake. We discourage large FD apparatus for the wake.
Dress appropriately and consider bringing snacks and water or non-alcoholic beverages on the bus as we may spend a considerable amount of time waiting in line inside or outside the school; and we will be gone for an extended period of time through the lunch hour.
09:45 – Arrive at Erie County Emergency Services Training & Operations Center (Fire Academy) and for accountability purposes, please have a unit leader check in at the west lobby with your group information and list of personnel. Include FD name, unit leader name and cell number and names of individuals in your group. We encourage you to maintain a list of cell phone numbers for each individual, should they get separated from the group for any reason.
10:00 – (Approximate) Leave for Webster. Stay as close as you can to the vehicle group while still maintaining a safe braking distance between vehicles. Tolls and EZ-Pass costs are the responsibility of the vehicle operators or agency. Monitor Erie County Interop Channel 1 for travel communications.
11:30 – (Approximate) Arrive at Webster Schroeder High School. All participants are asked to park in the South (rear) parking lots of the school. Enter and assemble as group. Attend wake.
15:00 – (Approximate) Board buses and return to Erie County Fire Academy.
FLOWERS: In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the memorials listed in the respective obituary’s or the West Webster Volunteer Firemen’s association via our donation page.
FUNERAL PROCESSION: Fire apparatus for the procession from the funerals to the respective cemeteries is limited to Webster PD, Webster and West Webster Fire personnel and apparatus.
Penfield Ambulance will be opening up its base from 2:00 – 7:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday and providing food and drink for first responders/honor guard/military etc. attending calling hours and the funeral of the victims of the West Webster Fire Department tragedy. Please help spread the word to those you know are responding. They would love a head count to order food if each group/agency could RSVP via e-mail email@example.com. Penfield Base is located at 1585 Jackson Rd, Penfield, NY.
To provide financial support for the families of the victims of the West Webster Fire Department tragedy, FASNY is asking all Fire Departments in New York State to conduct a fund raising “Boot Drive” this weekend. This Saturday, December 29th, please consider having your members solicit donations from your communities on behalf of our fallen and recovering firefighters.
